Zapata
This statue of Emiliano Zapata stands outside the Mexican Cultural Institute here in northwest Washington, DC. The mansion housing the Institute (to the left of this photo) was built in 1910 and, for a time, served as the Embassy of Mexico. Today, the Institute hosts exhibits and events celebrating Mexican culture and heritage with the goal of strengthening the bond between the United States and our southern neighbor.
