Musée du Louvre
With a history dating to the 12th Century, the Louvre Palace has served as a fortress, a palace, and—since 1793—a public art museum. I had difficulty capturing the scale of the complex in photos, so this detail of one small part of the building—while interesting—does little to convey the enormity of the place.
